BaFin applies EU anti‑money laundering directives and international standards, and is a member of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision.

AML (Anti-Money Laundering) Standards at ProCredit

All ProCredit institutions comply with the highest standards of anti‑money laundering (AML). The AML Programme is designed and monitored by ProCredit Holding according to German legislation and international standards. In addition, all ProCredit institutions comply with the local laws and regulations of the countries in which they operate.

Measures Applied Within the Group
  • Appointment of an AML specialist: each ProCredit bank has a specialist responsible for reporting to the Management Board and to the Group AML specialist.
  • Enhanced due diligence procedures: strict application of “Know Your Customer” (KYC) and “Know Your Correspondent”.
  • Staff training: regular training sessions for all employees, complemented by distance learning programmes to maintain AML awareness.
  • Customer classification: assessment of risks related to money laundering and terrorism financing, and application of appropriate procedures.
  • Transaction monitoring: group‑wide IT monitoring system, compliance with national and international sanctions and embargoes.
  • Reporting suspicious activities: reports submitted to local Financial Intelligence Units and to the Group AML specialist.
  • Accounts and record‑keeping: no anonymous or fictitious accounts are held; strict adherence to record‑keeping and archiving requirements.
  • Annual audit: all ProCredit banks and ProCredit Holding undergo an annual compliance audit.
Information for New Clients

When opening an account or initiating any other business relationship with a new client, ProCredit banks record and verify all information required for customer identification, whether the client is an individual or a legal entity. Employees request the client’s name, address, date of birth and other relevant data, as well as identity documents. In addition, questions are asked about the ultimate beneficial owner and the source of funds.

PATRIOT Act Certification

Any organization or individual can become a target for cybercriminals. They are becoming increasingly skilled at tricking you into clicking suspicious links, downloading dangerous files, or logging into compromised social networks. Apply simple measures to protect your online banking information and avoid common cyberattacks.

 

STRONG PASSWORD

Preventing identity theft is essential. For this reason, it is recommended to use strong and unique passwords.

  • Choose passwords that cannot be guessed easily. Avoid family names, birth dates, nicknames, and do not use the same password for multiple websites.
  • Do not write down or publish your user IDs, passwords, or sensitive information anywhere.
  • Change your passwords periodically and do not share them with anyone — not even with family members.
KEEP YOUR DEVICE SAFE AND SOFTWARE UPDATED
  • Use antivirus and anti-malware programs and keep them updated.
  • Regularly update your operating system and the applications on your device.
  • Scan any software you download before installing it.
  • Do not disable security controls on your phone — it may expose your device to risks.
SOCIAL ENGINEERING ATTACKS AND PREVENTION

Social engineering attacks attempt to trick you into revealing sensitive information or performing actions that can lead to fraud.

  • Be careful with downloaded files — they may look harmless, but some may be malicious.
STAY ALERT!
  • Protect your phone or tablet with a password, fingerprint, or facial recognition.
  • Regularly check your account activity and immediately report any suspicion.
  • Avoid public Wi‑Fi networks for online banking and sending sensitive information.
  • Regularly clear your browser cache after online banking sessions.
  • Access ProBanking only by manually entering the official address — do not use links from emails.
  • Keep your PINs and passwords safe and never share them with anyone.
  • Beware of emails promising easy money — if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
  • Ensure that antivirus, firewall, and automatic updates are enabled, and avoid using unknown computers.
ADDITIONAL PROACTIVE MEASURES
  • Install apps only from official stores such as Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
  • Always follow the terms and conditions of your bank.
  • Be cautious of suspicious pop‑ups during online banking and contact the bank if you have doubts.
  • Do not leave your computer unattended when logged into Internet Banking, and always log out properly when finished.

STRONG CUSTOMER AUTHENTICATION – SAFER PAYMENTS, MORE SECURE ACCESS!

ProCredit Bank is implementing Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) for card payments and access to ProBanking. This measure enhances security and helps prevent online fraud.

Strong Customer Authentication (SCA)

📝 When is Strong Authentication applied?
  • Card payments at POS terminals in the Republic of Moldova
  • Online card transactions (e‑commerce)
  • Login and operations in ProBanking / Mobile Banking
⚙️ How does Strong Authentication work?
  • Something you are – biometric identification (fingerprint, facial recognition)
  • Something you have – a mobile device or another authentication tool
  • Something you know – card PIN, a static password* or your phone unlock method

*What is the static password made of?
The static password consists of the last 5 digits of the card number and the last 4 digits of the IDNP.

💳 What changes for card payments?

Contactless transactions at POS terminals:

  • Payments under 1,000 MDL require PIN if:
    • The cumulative value of contactless transactions without PIN exceeds 3,000 MDL
    • More than 5 consecutive transactions were made without PIN
  • Exception: Payments via Apple Pay and Google Pay do not require PIN
  • Payments over 1,000 MDL — PIN entry is mandatory

Online transactions (e‑commerce):

  • Online payments under 600 MDL require a static password if:
    • The cumulative value of password‑free transactions exceeds 2,000 MDL
    • More than 5 consecutive transactions were made without a password
  • Exception: Online payments via Apple Pay and Google Pay do not require the static password
  • Payments over 600 MDL — the static password is mandatory

Note: Dynamic password authentication (SMS TAN) within 3D Secure remains mandatory for all online payments.

❗ Changes in ProBanking / Mobile Banking

Starting February 1, 2025, login and certain operations in ProBanking require additional authentication.

  • Enroll your card in Apple Pay, Google Pay, or other eligible digital wallets
  • Remember your card PIN and static password
  • Make sure you have the latest version of the ProCredit Mobile Banking app installed

ATTENTION: The inactivity session timeout in E‑banking and Mobile Banking is 5 minutes!

Using 3D Secure provides an additional layer of protection for your online transactions by securely authenticating each card payment. This system reduces the risk of fraud and gives you confidence that your financial data is protected at every moment during your online shopping.

Frequently Asked Questions

Online card payments through the 3D Secure service can be made:

  • only at merchants displaying the “VISA Secure” logo;
  • only if you have a valid mobile phone number or email address registered with the bank.

The main advantages of 3D Secure are:

  • One-time password received via SMS/email
  • Automatic activation at the first payment
  • No additional apps required
  • Secure data transfer
  • Only you can authorize the payment
  • Maximum protection against fraud

The steps are simple:

  1. Choose the products and proceed to checkout
  2. Enter your card details
  3. Choose the channel for receiving the password (SMS or email)
  4. Receive the 6‑digit code
  5. Enter the code and confirm the payment

Note: For payments made from abroad, activate roaming or check your registered email address.

🛒  Where can I use Apple Pay?
Apple Pay can be used in stores that accept contactless payments, in compatible mobile apps and online, using Safari on iPhone, iPad or Mac. You select Apple Pay as the payment method and confirm the transaction via Face ID, Touch ID or passcode.
🛡️  Is paying with Apple Pay secure?
Transactions are secured through biometric data (Face ID, Touch ID or passcode). Instead of the real card number, a unique code (Token) is used, and card information is not stored on the device or on Apple servers.
➕  Can the same card be added to multiple devices?
Yes, you can add the same Visa card to Apple Wallet on multiple compatible devices.
💳  How many cards can be included in Apple Wallet on the same device?
On newer devices, you can add up to 12 cards, while older models, such as iPhone X, allow enrollment of up to 8 cards.
