Dear customers,
We would like to inform you that starting from February 2025, ProCredit Bank Moldova will implement Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) in accordance with the European PSD2 Directive and national regulations. This security measure adds an extra layer of protection for card transactions and online banking services, reducing the risk of fraud.
When does Strong Customer Authentication apply?
Authentication and operations in ProBanking / Mobile Banking
How does Strong Customer Authentication work?
To verify/confirm the user's identity, at least two of the following methods will be used:
1. Something you are – biometric identification (fingerprint, facial recognition)
2. Something you have – a mobile device or another authentication tool
3. Something you know – card PIN, static password, or phone unlocking method
What changes for card payments?
Contactless transactions at POS terminals:
For payments below 1,000 MDL, entering the PIN code will be required if one of the following conditions is met:
Exception: Payments made via Apple Pay and Google Pay do not require a PIN.
For payments above 1,000 MDL, entering the PIN code will be mandatory regardless of the number or value of previous transactions.
Online (e-commerce) transactions:
For payments below 600 MDL, entering a static password will be required if one of the following conditions is met:
Exception: Online transactions made via Apple Pay, Google Pay do not require a static password.
For payments above 600 MDL, entering the static password will be mandatory, regardless of the number or value of previous transactions.
Note: Authentication via dynamic password (TAN via SMS) within 3D Secure remains mandatory for all online payments.
Changes in ProBanking / Mobile Banking
Starting from February 1, 2025, access and certain operations in ProBanking will require additional authentication.
